Pakistan Day (Youm-e-Pakistan) or Republic Day is a national holiday in Pakistan to commemorate the Lahore Resolution of 1940
and the adoption of the first constitution of Pakistan during the transition of the Dominion of Pakistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 23 March 1956 making Pakistan the world’s first Islamic republic. Republic Day parade by the armed forces is a common celebration for the event.
Every year Pakistan Day is celebrated on March 23 throughout the country with national enthusiasm and spirit to commemorate the adoption of the Pakistan Resolution by the All India Muslim League in 1940 at Lahore’s Minto Park which demanded a separate homeland for the Muslims in South Asia.
The day commemorates the adoption of Pakistan Resolution in 1940 which demanded a separate homeland for Muslims. Number of programs are arranged by different organization to highlight the importance of Pakistan Resolution every year on this day.
The Lahore Resolution proved a successful culmination of the long struggle made by the Muslims of South Asia. This struggle took seven years to be realized for a new emerging Muslim State on the world map-Pakistan.
The day reminds us that we are the potential people to make Pakistan and we are the same who will make it developed.
National Holiday / Celebration:
Pakistan Day on 23rd March is a national holiday in Pakistan. The celebrations regarding the holiday include a full military and civilian parade in the capital , Islamabad. These are presided by the President of Pakistan and are held early in the morning. After the parade, the President confers national awards and medals on the awardees at the Presidency. Wreaths are also laid at the mausoleums of Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
